The whole mount packs relatively flat, which I can slip into an outer pocket of my backpack or shooting vest. Not to mention that I prefer not to be surrounded by Wi-Fi smog while enjoying nature. And you can define your own cameras and lenses when you need. Why not Wi-Fi? Well, Canon’s Wi-Fi connectivity implementation is a pain to use and is significantly slower than USB. The Mark II leverages our extensive Viewfinder Camera Database, containing more than 800 still and motion picture cameras, 180 medium/large format backs and countless lenses incorporating real lens data for ALPA, Hartblei, Hasselblad, Leica, Rodenstock, Schneider and Zeiss glass. With the R5 I’m using the cable that was included in the box, and with the 5DS R Cable Matter’s 1m long USB-C to Micro B 3.1 cable is my preferred choice. We maintain a list of certified cables and adapters, and can’t stress enough the importance of high quality cabling. They are unreliable and most of the time do not work at all. We learned through the years of supporting camera connectivity apps that you should avoid cheap Chinese junk cables and adapters. In plural, since I’m using a 5DS R and a R5 for tethered shooting, both having different USB connectors. Speaking of tethers, I have to talk about the cables that connect the iPad with my cameras. It is just a Think Tank Red Whip and a small carabiner. You can see the completed mounting solution below. Generally I’m not happy with buying stuff made by Chinese copycats, but it turned out that nobody else makes any competent iPad holder… So I ended up getting a Sunwayfoto PC-01 tablet bracket.Īttaching the iPad bracket to the tripod was an easier job to accomplish with products from reputable European and US manufacturers: my choices being the Manfrotto 386B-1 nano clamp and RRS’ BC-18 micro ball head. Mounting the iPad was a headache, though. 64GB also turned out to be more than enough for a 5-hour Perseid shooting session, where I shot a ton of long exposure images. With Kuuvik Capture I only keep the perfect ones. Storage-wise 64GB is plenty for me, especially since I don’t have to shoot a myriad of images to compensate for possible errors. At the end I chose the Air 4 as it weighs a little less than the Pro, costs less, and for a dedicated tethering controller the Pro doesn’t provide anything worthwhile over it. Quite early during the development we’ve realized that the sweet spot is the ~11″ size. The iPad had to have a USB-C port and large enough screen while keeping the weight down. The image shows one of the app’s unique features: multi-point simultaneous live view. The Fujifilm X-T3 is just a really great mirrorless camera, and before wasting your money on excessively expensive full frame mirrorless systems we’d recommend you have a look to see if the Fujifilm X-T3 fulfils your needs. 03MARMohammedan SC 1 1 Bengaluru FC Player Ratings as Blues grab injury time equalizer 2022. While we prefer Canon’s color science we agree that Fujifilm’s color science is very good. Read the review here…įujifilm really did a lot if not everything right with their mirrorless cameras, starting with the lens ecosystem. The latest version V4.3 improves functionality, and now supports the EOS RP mirrorless camera which Keith reviewed a few months ago, which is now the main backup camera to his EOS 5Ds. Crucially, none of the video features get in the way of its excellence as a stills camera. We’ve made use of Kuuvik Capture software for some time and Keith has reviewed it several times in the past. With the X-T3, you get excellent JPEGs with some of the industry’s most attractive color options, access to an extensive selection of dedicated lenses, only now with improved autofocus and class-leading video. The X-T series has already established a fan-base of photographers with its traditional, dedicated-dial interface but, while this can also be used for video, we’d recommend using the (still fiddly) Movie Silent Control mode if you’re switching back and forth, since it allows separate exposure settings for each style of shooting. More expensive full frame cameras will offer better still image quality and cameras with in-body image stabilization will be easier to shoot video with, but nothing offers this balance of image quality and movie capability in a single package.Įven better, the X-T3 does both things in a way that makes them enjoyable. The Fujifilm X-T3 is arguably the best stills/video camera on the market right now. Photographic authority DPReview reviewed the Fujifilm X-T3, and they seem to be very fond of it. Here at Canon Watch we like Fujifilm cameras a lot, and the Fujifilm X-T3 seems to be exactly what we were expecting.
